euromicron subsidiary ProCom wins contract to supply public address systems

New master agreement with Deutsche Bahn

The euromicron subsidiary ProCom, the specialist for security-critical communications solutions, has won a master agreement with Deutsche Bahn (DB) relating to the purchase and supply of public address systems for the second time since 2014. The company from Essen won an international invitation to tender against numerous competitors from Germany and abroad. The successor agreement to the 2014 master agreement has a two-year term with the option of extending it, as well as a flexible order volume. Initial orders under the new master agreement are expected to be placed soon; among other things, rollout of public address systems at the central stations in Hanau and Stuttgart is envisaged in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The objective of the contractually agreed partnership is to equip DB stations with IP-based public address systems and announcement centers. “VoIP-Com” will be used. It is a highly available all-IP communications system for sophisticated infrastructures and also ensures that voice messages can be understood very clearly even in harsh environments where there are high noise levels. The modular system, which can be scaled as desired and adapted flexibly to the customer’s changing needs, will be tailored by ProCom to precisely meet the requirements defined in DB’s invitation to tender. It can be networked with other security systems by means of existing standard Ethernet structures, which eliminates the need to set up additional transmission routes. It boasts interfaces to telephone, dispatcher control, wireless, fire alarm and alerting systems, as well as to a wide range of different actuators and sensors. The DVS-21 intercom and public address systems previously installed by ProCom can be integrated in the new intercom, public address and alerting system VoIP-Com at minimal cost. The solution thus enables modernization, yet also ensures the existing installed base can continue to be used and so protects investments.

“The fact that we have again won the DB master agreement to supply public address systems is testimony to our many years of fine cooperation with Deutsche Bahn,” says ProCom’s Managing Director Roland Hünteler. “However, it’s also a huge success for our newly developed VoIP-Com system family and proves we’re on the right track with our all-IP public address systems for infrastructures.”
